As I was scanning my TV Bible this morning, I noticed that the networks have yet again trotted out The Ten Commandments (filmed in 1956!) and The Sound of Music (filmed in 1965) for our family viewing pleasure. Why do they do this?? It's Easter! Neither of those movies have a thing to do with Easter. Nor do they have a reference to Christmas, but they are rolled out then too. I guess since the Ten Commandments are Bibical, they could just lop them over to cover any religious holiday, but you know, that story is all about the Jews and their deliverance from slavery in Egypt. Jesus does not appear in this story at all. And, The Sound of Music? I just don't get that one. And, every time I watch it (which is very rarely!) I sing that do-re-mi song in my head until I am nuts.
I'm just saying.

The Ten Commandments can at least be excused this time of year due to the coinciding of Easter and Passover. At Christmas it is silly. That's the time for A Charlie Brown Christmas was made for -- back in 1965!
I agree with Timmie, gotta appease the Jews!
Still rather weird for Sound of Music, though.
